Don't Buy of the Week

Don't buy any lamps like this. No it's nt because they blow up or anything like that- it's because torch lamps are ugly and bad design. If you're past the age of 24 you have enough money to purchase a decent lamp. Make it your New Year's resolution to throw these babies out!!!

Oh Man, I was going to get one of these things. I thought it would be better than the current wine bottle lamp we currently have. sigh...

I am so glad I stopped you Kathleen. A torch lamp is a horrible purchase. I will reasearch some other thrifty lamps that look good. What's your budget for the lamp?

Probably 40 dollars. I have never bought my own lamp for our house before so I actually have no idea how much a nice one would cost. I know, I know that makes you a little sad inside.

i have been trying to replace the torch lamp in my living room for a LONG time. I did once but returned the nice looking lamp i got bc it didnt give off enough light. My living room doesnt have any light fixtures inthe ceiling therefor lamps that are powerful are imp. SO far, Mikes old torch lamp from his bach pad is the only thing that really brightens up the room. Believe me, I have been looking,,, not aggressively, but looking. THe key is a lamp that gives off LOTS of light.. our torch lamp has 2 additional smaller bulbs with it. any help would be much appreciated.

You don't neccessarily want ONE lamp that gives off a lot of light. Think of lighting your home like lighting a play. You want multiple lamps that give out good amounts of light and they should ALWAYS have dimmers so you can adjust the intensity of the light depending on the situation. NEVER EVER use a ceiling light unless it's a beautiful pendent or chandelier and is on a dimmer.
Kathleen- I'm seaching for you.

I need to send this to my mother-in-law. She's a torchiere fiend.
