The Times

Cool clock, completely underwhelmed by the website, Established and Sons.

Stokke Sleepi

I love this bassinet/crib. Type in Stokke Sleepi in your search engine and you can find where to buy.

Vintage French Purse

I love love love this purse. I found it on eBay and it sold for under $10. What a fabulous find!
It really reflects the ideas of the Orphism art movement. Orphism was strongly linked to Cubism if you were going to write me and say it was more cubist then Orphic.
A wonderful artist from the Orphism movement who is most always forgotten is Sonia Delaunay. Look her up, she is my inspiration.

Romona Keveza

When I got married in '04 this was my favorite dress. It is by designer Romona Keveza. I searched the entire tri-state area and found only one out-of-the-way boutique that sold this dress. Needless to say it was beautiful on. I was all ready to buy it when I glanced at the price tag, $5,500! I love the dress I wore on my wedding day, but this dress is still my favorite.

Odegard Ceiling Fixture

This is an Odegard light fixture. I was introduced to Odegard when I worked in interior design and I have never forgotten the simplicity and architectual beauty of their pieces. This piece is fabric covered and comes in a range of fabrics and sizes.

Nepolean Bonaparte

I amdire Nepoloean and this is my favorite image of him. Nothing wrong with attempting world domination.

Art Nouveau

Here is a beautiful example of Art Nouveau. Art Nouveau began in the 1890's and the tagline for the art movement was "Art for all, and Art everywhere." In this movement art took on the forms of living things, plants, nature and the female body. It is not that art created was earthy instead the art have curvalinear forms like those occuring in nature. Enjoy!

Grandfather Clock (Abuelo Reloj)

I don't remember where I found this image, I think it was off an antique dealers website, anyway I think it is a wonderful grandfather clock and my favorite aspect is the sun and moon faces painted on the rotating part of the face. The inlay is also beautiful, designed by a miticulous furniture maker.

Chevy Chase Homes

This is a beautiful house in Chevy Chase MD. Yes, it would be prettier and more outstanding if it was painted a different color, but I think this house is a great example of the beautiful homes in Chevy Chase MD and NW DC. What surprises me is that some people with money would rather live in a cookie cutter cheap feeling house in bumblefuck VA then in a house like this that is old, historical and with beautiful architectual details. This house probably sells for between 1.5-2 million dollars, depending on the amenities.

Ring at Nieman Marcus

I happened upon this today while browsing the Neiman Marcus online jewerly page. This piece is outstanding, all things that are made should be made to be extraordinary.

My Former Boss' Stationary

My former boss, aka Satan, had stationary and this was the design at the top left of her paper. I thought it was so beautiful. It is raised so you not only have the option of experiencing the image through sight but also through touch.

This is just to say...

Milly Dress

Ok so this past week I saw this dress on a model in Nordstroms. I thought it was fabulous so I go through all three floors of the store looking for this dress so I could try it on and get a price... no where and I mean no where in the store was this dress. And on top of that the model dress didn't have a price tag so I have no idea how much this dress is. But the point of this post is that I thought this dress was beautiful and I wanted to share it with you.

Romanian Nun

Here is a close up of my Icon. Yes this picture was also suppossed to go under the one posted below.
This is a picture of a Romanian Nun who is a hermit and spends her days, everyday from morning to night creating Icons in the traditional icon style. The icon style has strict rules in order to be considered an icon so the work is tedious.

This is a picture of her with the Icon I commissioned for my own collection. It is of Jesus dying on the cross.

Street Art

Here is his/hers signiture. This image was taken in 2006. Also I am new to this blog thing, this image was supposed to go after the one below.... whatever.
When I went to visit my friend in NYC last year we happened upon this on the street. It is a chalk outline of a parking meter's shadow. I thought this was fabulous and a example of art in the everyday, outside of the gallery and museum setting.

Lichtenstein for Sale

This Lichtenstein is being auctioned off this weekend at the auction house my husband works at. It is a lithograph, silkscreen and woodblock dated 1989 and titled "Blonde". It is really big, framed and measures in at 54 and 5/8th inches x 34 15/16 inches. It is estimated at $8,000-10,000. If you have the cash I would highly recommend adding this to your collection.

A friend of a friend.

A friend of a friend has this image as the entering image into her website, and I just love it so much I had to share it with you.
