If You Have One of These...

Throw it out! There is nothing good about this kind of wall sconce.

It's Wedding Season

It's wedding season... which means it's time for me to pick my favorite dresses of the season:

Above: This one is fantastic and is perfect for a second marriage that has a casual ceremony and reception.
Above: I thought this one was so soft and flowy and I think the shrug adds structure to the loose architecture of the dress.

Above: There are aspects to this dress I don't like and things I think or so interesting... judge for yourself... but no judging allowed if you own one of those wire candle sconces.

Above: I didn't like the top of this dress but I thought the skirt was very neat.

Above: Love this, love the pockets, love the flower, love the straps and I guarentee you it would look like ass on me.
All dresses found on theknot.com by various designers.

Joesphine

My Friend just had a baby named Josephine and it reminded me of my favorite royal lady Josephine, Napoleon's wife. Here is a painting of her as well as two of her crowns. The second crown is kind of hard to see because there is another crown behind it. Don't do any research on Joesphine because you will be disappointed, she wasn't the sweetest lady. Just admire her from afar.

Antique Ring Boxes

The current Martha Stewart Wedding magazine has all sorts of vintage ring boxes on the cover. I had never thought about ring boxes before so of course I decided to do some research and I came across this one which I thought was a standout example. This one if from the company Henry Birks and is post 1940. I think these boxes are such a great way to display your important jewlery (let me get on getting some important jewlery and I'll get back to you). And they are something you can pass down to your children (who probably won't want your old shit anyway.).

Royality Crowns

This website won't let me copy and paste the images but it's worth clicking on the link. There are various royalities tiaras and jewlery... it is awesome and you can just imagine owning this pieces for your own private collection.

Calvin Klein

This dress is a few seasons old, but I just thought about it the other day and remembered how much I liked it. And you know what? I like the sheer over the nipples... so don't write me complaining about the sheerness.

Oyster Dish

Have I mentioned how much I loooove oyster dishes? I haven't! Well I looove oyster dishes, I just think they are so cool. I especially like the lemon center of this one.

Green Lamp

Found this very cool 20th century reverse painted lamp today. I think it is super rad. Thank-God for the gold shade, otherwise it could look like something you found in your grandmothers attic.

Change Purse

I found these today on piecesinc.com. Aren't they adorable? I would order one for myself if ordering off their website wasn't so darned complicated.

You Can Cry for Me

I went to the open house of this house today and tonight I will be crying myself to sleep. It was more amazing in person. The pictures don't do the intricacy of the architectural leveling justice.

19th Century Swedish Chest

Wooden Letter Sculpture

I thought this would look fantastic on a wall in a house that had fairly conservative decor. This piece would break it up.

Simple, peaceful design

Base your designs around the simple beauty of these pots against the black background.

Barley Twist Bed

An eBay find! Isn't this bed fantastic!

I have a small obcession with...

Swedish Antiques. This is a pair of 19th century Jamtland pine chairs. No, I have no idea what Jamtland is... but I like the chairs.

Bookcase

A pretty cool art deco style bookcase that I can't remember where I found it, but I thought it was pretty sweet.

Diamond Earrings

Up for auction at Weschlers Auction House these beautiful platnium and diamond earrings. Estimated at $600-800. I may be asking my husband for these.

Finials For Sale

A set of 10 garden finials from 1910. Love them! Estimated at $75-100 each. Also a Kamelot Auction piece. I like Kamelot Auction House, I don't like the name. Why would you ever name your company the incorrect spelling of a yucky Medieval place.

Antique Safe

Found this safe today on Kamelot Auction House's webiste. It's up for auction within a couple of weeks. It is steel and bronze and estimated at $300-$800.
